About
My name is David Beard. I’m an Exercise Physiologist with post graduate qualifications from University of Western Australia and Edith Cowan University. I was lucky enough to be awarded a Fullbright Scholarship allowing me to spend 2 years studying in the United States where I earned a Masters Degree from University of Arizona with a 4.0 grade point average.
On my return to Australia I started my career with HBF, the largest private health insurer in WA, as part of the Health Management Division. As well as introducing corporate health programs to a number of companies I was instrumental in the establishment of mobile cholesterol checks throughout WA shopping centres, a trend that quickly spread across the country.
I was the first, and possibly one of the only, Exercise Physiologists to work in the Aged Care industry. As the Program Director of one of WA’s largest not-for-profit aged care providers I introduced health and fitness activities to people in retirement villages, aged care hostels and nursing homes. I have worked with, and helped change the lives of adults from 50 to 100. Some of my greatest rewards were seeing the lives of seniors transform as a result of my willingness to push them to do more than they believed they could.
I have worked as a Human Resources professional for many years and has been a management and business coach. I know the challenges faced by individuals in today’s busy and stressful corporate world and I also know the importance of maintaining a reasonable level of fitness through the challenges of work, family and community responsibility.
I understand the practicalities of balancing work and well-being. I juggle a busy work and family schedule with my own fitness program. As retired basketball player and tri-athlete I still make time to ride, run and swim on a regular basis. I have also completed rebuilding my home gym which I share with my two sons, a few friends and clients.
If you want practical information, adivce and products to help you get as fit as you can be, I’d love to help.
